New orders for € 29m for SOMEC Navale

SOMEC group has acquired new orders for a total value of about €29m, which include a €14m contract with MKM Yachts and one of abut €15m with Meyer Werft.

MKM Yachts has committed to the construction of the ultra-luxury ship Eclipse 2, commissioned by the Australian owner Scenic, at the Croatian shipyard in Rijeka between 2022 and 2023; SOMEC will supply interior fittings in both cabins and public areas. The ship will have a gross tonnage of 16,500 tons and will be able to accommodate up to 228 passengers in 114 luxury suites.

Meyer Werft, one of the largest shipyards in the world, has commissioned the turnkey outfitting of the outdoor areas of the suites and cabins with balconies of a new cruise ship owned by Carnival, under construction at the Papenburg shipyard in Germany. The new generation ship will have a gross tonnage of over 180,000 tons, 2,641 cabins and a capacity of 8,376 people and will be built between 2022 and 2023.
